Chemistry Course Information
Chemistry is a lab-oriented course that strives to provide students with the tools needed to be successful in a college chemistry course and to help them become science-literate citizens. Students will investigate how chemistry is an integral part of their daily lives and will be able to make informed decisions.

Fall Semester Topics: matter, energy changes, scientific measurement, problem solving, chemical names and formulas, chemical equations, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, states of matter, gas laws

Spring Semester Topics: atomic structure and models, quantum mechanics, periodic table, chemical bonding, solutions, reaction rates, acids,bases,salts, oxidation-reduction, nuclear and organic chemistry
College Biology Information
A course syllabus listing major test and lab practical dates will be handed out at the beginning of each semester. Students getting CJC credit can not be exempt from semester exams. Retakes are not allowed for CJC credit, but are allowed for high school credit.

CJC Grading:
Final Exam - 50%
Tests - 25%
Lab* - 25%
lab consists of 3 practicals -75%
lab work -25%
Lowest test grade will be replaced by final's grade (if higher).
Science TAKS Class
This is a class expressly designed to improve the understanding of science concepts that appear on the TAKS test. Students will work on a more individual basis according to their needs.
